Property and Equipment Services - Health and Safety Policy
Property and Equipment Services takes its obligations seriously with regard to the safety and health of everyone who is affected by the work we carry out and will take all reasonably practicable steps, to comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation, and ensure that appropriate Approved Codes of Practice and Good Industry Practices are followed in all of our work.
Property and Equipment Services will ensure the health and safety of workers doing work for us and of others we are working with, whose work or activities are influenced or directed by us.
Property and Equipment Services will also ensure that the health and safety of members of the public are not put at risk from the work or activities carried out as a part of our business.
To achieve this, Property and Equipment Services will, so far as is reasonably practicable:
- Identify hazards that might give rise to risks to health and safety;
- Eliminate risks to health and safety or minimise risks that are not reasonably practicable to eliminate;
- Advise all our workers on their rights and responsibilities;
- Provide and maintain an environment with all of our work and activities that whenever practicably possible eliminates risks to health and safety;
- Provide and maintain safe plant (vehicles, equipment, appliances, implements, tools) and structures (buildings, masts, towers);
- Provide and maintain safe systems of work processes for all our activities;
- Ensure the safe use, handling and storage of plant, structures and substances;
- Provide adequate (clean, safe, well maintained and accessible) facilities for the welfare of workers doing work for us, where it is provided;
- Provide the information, training, instructions or supervision necessary to protect all persons from risks arising from work carried out as a part of the activities of Property and Equipment Services;
- Ensure that the health of workers at our work places are appropriately monitored;
- Ensure that the conditions at our workplaces are appropriately monitored;
- Provide adequate and accessible first aid facilities for our workers;
- Provide suitable personal protective equipment and clothing for our workers and other persons that is necessary for their safety and health and ensure that it is correctly used and maintained; and
- Engage with workers so they have a reasonable opportunity to raise health and safety issues and to contribute to the decision-making process on health and safety.
Property and Equipment Services will review this policy annually, or when an event or changes to legislation occurs - Last updated October 2019
